They said seven demons had gone out of her.
Seven.
The Gospel does not tell us what they were. It does not describe how they tormented her. It simply tells us that Jesus cast them out.
That is where many stories begin.
And where many assumptions begin too.
Over the centuries, people have imagined madness, scandal, or even the seven deadly sins. But Scripture never says any of that.
What it does tell us is enough.
Mary Magdalene met Jesus.
And her life was never the same.
She became one of His faithful followers. She remained near the cross when many had fled. She went to His tomb. And she became one of the first witnesses to the risen Christ.
People often remember the seven demons.
But the Gospel remembers something greater.
Not what once held Mary Magdalene…
but the One who set her free.
