During this season, we are invited to:
• Pray. We bring the earth, its creatures, and people affected by environmental problems into our prayers.
• Notice. We spend time outdoors and pay closer attention to the natural world around us.
• Learn. We explore environmental issues or read Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ encyclical on care for our common home.
• Use less. We reduce food waste, conserve water and electricity, and avoid unnecessary disposable items.
• Nurture life. We plant something, tend a garden, care for an animal, or help maintain a green space.
• Take part. We join a cleanup, tree-planting activity, recycling project, or another community effort.
• Keep going. We carry at least one practice from the season into our everyday lives.
The season may end, but the responsibility doesn’t.
September 1: “Let’s start.”
September 1–October 4: “Let’s practice.”
October 5 onward: “Let’s keep going.”
Next September 1: “Let’s do it again, and maybe do better.”
