Forgiveness can look like weakness, especially when we have been hurt. Yet it takes courage to let go of the desire to return hurt with hurt. Jesus calls us beyond loving only those who love us. We can choose a love that does not depend on how another person has treated us, even when that choice is difficult.

Prayer for the Courage to Forgive
Jesus, give us the courage to forgive when we have been hurt. Help us love without asking whether others have earned our love, and free our hearts from the desire to hurt them in return. Amen.
