To truly love means learning to step beyond ourselves. Like musicians listening to each other instead of trying to play the loudest, we create something better when we make space for others in our lives.

Heavenly Father, teach us to listen, understand, and make space for others. Help us choose love over pride and unity over selfishness each day. Amen.

We find our truest selves only when we are willing to lose ourselves in the service of others.

True love asks us to identify with others so deeply that we see the world through their eyes. It’s about “dying to our ego” so we can truly live for our neighbor.

When we forget ourselves and focus on the needs, joys, and burdens of others, we are loving with the very heart of Jesus. We aren’t just observing their lives—we are sharing them.

Today, let’s try to “be” the other person—to listen so deeply that we feel what they feel and need what they need.
