Forests and Economies

Forests quietly support water, food, and livelihoods—when they weaken, everything else follows.

International Day of Forests • March 21

Forests don’t look like money, but they keep things running.

They protect water, support food, and provide materials people use to earn. Farmers rely on stable soil. Fishermen depend on healthy waters. Small businesses use wood, bamboo, and plants.

When forests are lost, the effects show up in real life. Water becomes harder to find. Crops don’t grow the same. Costs slowly rise.

It doesn’t happen all at once, but it builds over time.

If forests are steady, life is steady. If they’re not, everything feels it.

They stay in the background, but they carry more than we notice.
