Clean Air for Climate Action

A blue sky is not just something nice to look at. It tells us something about the air around us.

International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies • September 7

We notice air most when something is wrong with it. A smoky street. A burning pile of rubbish. Exhaust hanging over traffic. A hazy sky.

Clean air is easy to take for granted because we cannot see it when it is healthy. But how we travel, use energy, and manage waste affects both air pollution and climate change.

Climate action can start with everyday choices:

🚌 Taking a bus instead of driving alone
🚶 Walking when the place is nearby
šŸ’” Saving electricity
🌳 Keeping trees in our communities
šŸ”„ Avoiding open burning
⚔ Supporting cleaner ways of producing energy

Cleaner air means fewer harmful pollutants where we live and work. Cutting greenhouse gas emissions also helps slow climate change.

We may not be able to fix the whole problem on our own, but we can avoid adding to it.

The sky does not belong to one country or one generation. It belongs to all of us.

Keeping it blue is part of taking care of the planet.

And a blue sky should not come only from ā€œout of the blue.ā€
