We do not have to wait for someone else to show love first. We can take the initiative with every person we meet and make our care concrete by trying to understand and anticipate their needs. Patience, trust, perseverance, and generosity can turn love from a good intention into something another person can actually experience.

Prayer for Taking the First Step
God, help us love without waiting for others to begin. Teach us to understand their needs and respond with patience, trust, perseverance, and generosity. Amen.
