Exercise Patience • Mon.12.15.25

Patience grows when we trust God in every difficulty.

God’s plan always carries moments that stretch us. Suffering, delays, and unexpected difficulties are not punishments—they are places where His love shapes us quietly. When we accept these moments with trust, patience grows, and our hearts learn to love the way Jesus loved.

Based on the Word of Life (November 1978) by Chiara Lubich

✝️ Prayer for Patient Strength

Lord, You walk with us through every hardship. Forgive us when we resist the moments that can make us grow. Thank You for using even our struggles to draw us closer to You. Help us embrace patience and let Your will guide each step. Amen.

A prayer a day, keeps the soul from drifting away

God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen—The Story

Travelers find hope on a cold night when they hear the message that Christ brings courage and joy.

The night was cold, and a group of men sat together trying to stay warm. They spoke softly, reminding each other not to be afraid of anything that troubled them. The news they carried was meant to lift their hearts, not weigh them down.

They told the story of how a Savior had been born, the one who came to stop the power of darkness and rescue people from fear. The men leaned in closer as one of them shared how angels announced this good news to shepherds watching their flocks at night.

The image felt clear in their minds.
Shepherds on a quiet hillside…
A bright messenger appearing out of nowhere…
A voice telling them that joy had arrived.

The men imagined the shepherds leaving their fields right away, going to see the Child wrapped in cloth and lying in a manger. They could almost feel the excitement of that first night and the relief the shepherds must have felt when they finally saw Him.

As the story finished, the mood in the room grew lighter. The men looked at each other with calm faces, remembering the promise that nothing dark or frightening could win over the joy brought that day.

They sat together in peace, letting the good news rest in their hearts as the cold wind moved outside.

This is one of the oldest existing Christmas carols, dating back to the 16th century.
