International Mother Language Day • February 21
Young people are not just learners. They are protectors of language. They shape how languages are used in school, online, in music, in everyday talk.
Multilingual education helps students learn better, feel seen, and stay connected to who they are. When youth speak in their mother tongue without shame, culture stays alive.
Many languages around the world are disappearing. When a language fades, stories and wisdom fade with it. Children understand lessons better when first taught in their mother language.
This is not about rejecting global languages like English. It is about balance. We can speak to the world and still keep our roots strong.
Let’s speak our mother language intentionally today. Teach children traditional songs or family stories. Read something written in our local language. Respect accents. They carry history.
Language is home we carry in our mouth. Protect it. Pass it on.
