Give the Planet a Break, One Day or More

A small change in pace can remind us how much cleaner everyday life could be.

Zero Emission Day β€’ September 21

The day asks for something simple: give the planet a break from emissions.

We can drive less when possible, walk a little more, turn off lights and appliances we are not using, skip unnecessary trips, and use less fuel and electricity where we can.

Of course, one cleaner day will not solve climate change.

But it can make us notice how much energy we use without thinking about it, and how much we can reduce without making life difficult.

Some changes may feel inconvenient at first, but eventually, we get the hang of it. And once we feel that we are making a better choice for the planet, that feeling itself can be enough motivation to continue.

Zero Emissions Day may last only one day.

But our emissions do not have to go straight back to normal the next day.
