2025 PhilEd Conference • December 3–4
There’s a big education conference happening right now—the 2025 PhilEd Conference, this December 3–4 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. Teachers, school heads, policymakers, and education groups from all over the country are gathered to talk about one theme: “Changing the Narrative of Philippine Education by Making Reforms Work.”
And if we’re talking about reforms that truly work, here are some things many people hope the national system can continue to improve:
• A lighter, clearer curriculum. Students learn better when lessons aren’t too packed and they have time to understand things well.
• Work that teachers can manage. Teachers do so much every day. When their workload is balanced, they can focus more on teaching.
• Better ways of checking learning. Students grow more when they are asked to think, not just memorize.
• Stronger internet and equipment in schools. Good learning tools make a big difference in today’s world.
• Training that truly helps teachers in daily work. The best training is the one that can be used right away in class.
• Public and private schools working together. When both sides share their strengths, students benefit.
• Classrooms and school spaces that support everyone. A good learning environment helps both teachers and students do their best.
• Clear roles and shared responsibility. When everyone works together, reforms have a better chance of succeeding.
• Room for students to explore and try new things. Kids learn a lot when they are allowed to be curious.
• Support for teachers. Good education grows when teachers are taken care of—not when they are overworked.
• Mental health support. Students and teachers both carry stress. Support systems matter.
• Parent involvement. Learning becomes stronger when schools and homes work in the same direction.
• Clear communication from leaders. When changes are explained well, implementation becomes smoother.
It makes you realize how much hope still sits inside every school. We all want things to work better for the kids who walk these halls every day. And maybe that’s the real story behind all these talks: a country still trying, still believing, still reaching for something better. And in moments like this, you feel the country trying to lift a little higher—one small hope at a time, one bright step forward, and one reason to Rise.
